The first contest in Ccapi
With the help of local authorities and the funding of the The Greer Foundations, seven communities (43% of the total number of families living in this district) will participate in the first contest organized by Pachamama Raymi. Great awards await those families which most successfully improve their quality of life. The contest focusses on the application of innovations relating to the families’ living environment, preventive health practices, management of natural resources, and local businesses. Between July 13th and July 19th 2016, the jury (chosen from the rural communities) will evaluate the progress made by every household.
This is the first contest since an agreement was reached between Pachamama Raymi and the municipality of Ccapi in January of this year. Ccapi is a district in the province of Paruro, which is located in Cusco region. With a poverty rate of 87.7% and an extreme poverty rate of 54,3%, Ccapi is one of the poorest districts of Peru. This situation is certainly challenging. However, Pachamama Raymi will help hundreds of families realize their potential to change their lives.
