In essence, Pachamama Raymi is a methodology which seeks to break through the vicious circle of environmental degradation and rural poverty, promoting the sustainable management of natural resources. The methodology achieves that the majority of our target population adopts innovations within a period of three consecutive years. The families learn to expertly manage productive businesses and implement sustainable environmental practices. It is a holistic model based on the three dimensions of sustainable development:
- Economic development: Families create or improve a business which generates an income of at least 15,000 soles per year in the short term. In the long term, the forestation ensures the families of significant revenues.
- Human development: Families improve their preventive health practices and make substantive changes in their living conditions. They remodel their homes with better facilities and more comfort.
- Environmental development: Since 2008 we have promoted good practices of forestation. Together with the communities, we have planted more than 4 million trees, with an engraftment of over 90%. This way, the communities improve the value of their property, reduce environmental degradation and counter climate change.
